Yo Adrienne!!! You rock my lens off!

Adrienne took a chance on me when my sis couldn't shoot her family for the annual family picture. And I am so glad she did. This was no small honor. My sister does an amazing job, people are constantly calling her for her stunning work (and yes, I can brag on my sister, I love her and think she totally rocks!)

I found I was a little nervous, how do I compare? Don't we all go through that thought some times in our lives? Well I gave that thought a swift karate kick and moved on.

I also had some history with Adrienne and Kevin, I hadn't seen them since high school, like 17 years ago (sheesh). I was also friends with Adrienne's bro, whom I simply adored. So I knew I was in good company

Adrienne and Kevin are the perfect mix of happiness and sunshine, even on this cloudy overcast day. You can see this in their eyes and faces and mostly in their adorable daughter.

We did our shoot at the Riverwalk on the West side of Denver. That place is always good for textures and architecture and greenery. It's perfect for photo shoots.

Really love this shot.

Their daughter was every photographers dream. She was kind, friendly, and sassy! I love that in a girl.

Kevin just makes me smile. He emanates kindness and patience. He also has any gold lovers dream job, he gets to hang on the gold course all day!

Thank you Adrienne and Kevin for sharing your family with me for a day. It was a treat and I am glad we got to catch up in this way.

What I am working on... Gabe

Right now, I am finishing up this guy, Gabe. Senior extraordinaire. This guy has lady killer written all over him when I look at his pictures,

but perhaps that is just what I am pulling from his imagery.

To meet him in person, you are in the presence of serious awesomeness. He is a big brother, and loves it (mostly), whip smart, and someone with a seriously nice side to him. And dare I say shy?

This was the photo shoot that I thought might end my career as I knew it, before it had even become a career. I had forgotten my battery. We shot in downtown Denver, and I forgot my battery. Can you believe it? I couldn't. His family was more than kind and understanding. But here is the thing, can you really put a price on experience?

Can you put a price on the could'a should'a would'a? No you cannot. What if this was a family shoot, where all the family spent all day getting ready and I wasn't able to shoot them because of a battery?

They gave me a gift that day, the undeniable gift of kindness, forgiveness, and experience. Since then, I have purchased two additional batteries, and make sure they are in my bag at all times, making my battery total to three, on my person at ALL TIMES.

Why would I admit this here? Because I am me, this is who I am. Imperfect and learning life lessons on the way. Life lessons taught by the kindest people ever. I hope that I can pay that kindness forward some day when someone screws up royally and is depending on me to be understanding.

To Gabe and his family, I will always remember them and smile when I see these pictures. These could have been the kind of pictures that make me shudder.

BUT, instead they just make me happy. Gabe and fam forgave and were kind and moved on. These are Great People! To them, I am forever grateful for the life lesson I learned. And I think the lesson was more than just making sure I had a battery.

Davis-Kallas Peak! Good times

Adrienne Davis is a friend from the good days of poofy bangs, my permed hair, Nirvana, Spin Doctors, and the Ducky Boys (a gang in my high school, intimidating right?)

Her husband Kevin and also from that same era.

Can I tell you how proud I am to come from the 90's at Gateway High School and to have known people like Adrienne and Kevin. It's so fun and a trip to see people from your past all grown up, and happy, no less! It honestly does my heart some serious good.

We had such a fun photo shoot at one of my favorite places as of late to shoot, the Riverwalk area in lower downtown Denver. Here is a cute shot of their off spring, Ali!

She is the best of both of them and I can't wait to share more!

Rad shoot, Chad and Amy and compnay

Chad and Amy are part three of a group of friends who gave me the opportunity of photographing their families. Again, big gulp. How do you take pictures of different people whom are friends with each other and make them look unique? I guess when you have unique and gorgeous faces to work with, it's like no biggie! I love this family, they were perfect for this shoot.

Starting with the newest addition, Cole. A super lady killer.

Kindof makes you want to have another. This little guy is so pleasant and easy going, I cannot get over how sweet he is. Apparently this wasn't good behavior, this is his M.O. Amy I hope you know how lucky you are and how dangerous this is to your friends whom have sworn off having any more children.

Nothing I love more than boys in their element! That element being bare foot in a park. I love this next picture. It is so beautiful.

Next child is Katherine the great! And she is beyond pretty great! She wears Little Miss Sunshine's pants. I mean that by this girl has presence. And at the same time displays some impressive independence. She is THAT little girl whom always looks nice, everything matches and is in its place. She makes me smile just thinking about her and she is loved by her brothers.

Things I love about this next guy.

*He is excellent at receiving attention from a lady with a large lens.

*And he is just about the sweetest kid ever.

I love this photo of him. So sweet.

Parker is getting ready for big stuff, like 8 year old big stuff. This means you can now fight like a Jedi with authority and stay up later with your brother and help your mom with the dishes and do your laundry. Sorry to mention the later, but with the good comes also the responsible parts of life. Parker is such a good fun kid.

His Brother Garrett did exactly what I asked. "Jump like a spider monkey!" DONE!

The oldest of this bunch is also a nice kid and wicked smart. He knows how to take apart stuff and put it back together better than it was before. I just like him because he looks so great in these glasses.

Things I love about the rest of the family, well I would have to start with the top, the glue, the duct tape of the family. That is Amy. She is lovely as well as wicked smart and funny. I think the kids get a lot of their greatness from their mom. You are guaranteed a good time around Amy. She also runs her own business as well as raise this stellar bunch of kids. Chad is an accountant and crazy student and working right now. I don't know how the guy does it. He is busy busy busy.

I love a good Stylized shoot! Especially when it involves beautiful people.

Another one of my favorite peeps. Ryan and Lindsay are stunning. And if good looks wasn't enough, they have children who play along! Wholeheartedly even. I have had the privilege to photograph these guys for a few years now and I have to say, the pressure to recreate something new and different is a little daunting. But when you have a canvas like this, you can't help but feel creative.

Thank you guys so much for asking me to photograph you again! This was my top favorite shoot of the year. That's not to say all the others weren't amazing, but this finished product was so unique and different, it really shined in the end of this year. I felt like I was transported back to the for a little bit of the golden years.

This is exactly what I love about Lindsay. She gets a brilliant idea in her head and it becomes a reality. Whether its for a family photo shoot or amazing home decor in her house, she always makes it happen the way she planned it, to perfection. I really respect someone who can do that. Some day, Lindsay will let me barrow her brain. I can't wait.

The girls have really come out of their sweet little shy shell and into their own. They were so accommodating and proud of their darling little dresses complete with petticoats.

How could you not be preening at the camera when you looked this adorable? Love this shot!

Sassafrass, love this shot too, these next few!

One of my favorite parts about this next shot is that Lindsay hung it perfect in her home.

In fact, she hung a lot of these pictures. This is what I like to see people, the images that I take with my heart and my mind hung on the wall for all to enjoy! It makes what I do so much more fulfilling.

Lincoln, he is my lady killer! This kid has so much personality wrapped up into one ball of fun and wonder.

Can't you hear him laughing and giggling? He is so great!

The oldest of the lady killer's, Isaac! Isn't he just dreamy in this next shot? I love the stripped shirts and striped tie and khaki pants. Simply brilliant for the guys!

Ryan is no shrinking violet. He's such a great father and an easy going guy, these kids have great genetic make-up. Ryan also has some pretty sweet volleyball skills. He and my husband occasionally have a little shoot out of epic proportions. They keep going back for more, it's a beautiful thing.

Enjoy the rest and be swept back to simpler times with this gorgeous family! It was so special and enjoyable, truly unique!

Rochelle and Brandon

These guys are a big deal! This is one of many shoots I anticipated from the moment it was scheduled. Rochelle is friends with a couple of other friends whom I had the privilege to photograph this past fall. GulP! Photographing friends whom run around in the same group is enough to make me O.D. on Tums and Zantac. But each shoot was unique and different and I cannot wait to share them all with you!

To start off with, Rochelle and Brandon, I love it when I tell the parents to kiss and the kids look like this.

Anyone who knows them, at least who knows Rochelle counts themselves lucky to have friends like them. Rochelle, a hard-working, devoted mom, rockin' wife, great listening ear friend, makes this world a better place because she is in it. Did I mention she is one of the most hilarious people I have ever met? If she wasn't so great it would be ok to hate her a little.

Our shoot was so funny. Belly laugh funny. It was fun, and painful for everyone involved. Some kids, they love the camera, and then other kids, really don't know what to make of the camera. It takes everyone, no matter who you are, a little while to get used to being paparazzized (whatever, I know that's a word).

And then all the sudden they don't even know the camera is there.

These guys are some of the luckiest kids I know. They have parents whom love them fiercely. Sam, this year, has celebrated his second anniversary of being seizure free! It's huge. This kid used to seize all the time. It was awful for Sam and the family. Yet, here he is, on a crazy diet, and seizure free. Can you tell the family is transformed? Happy and living life like it should be lived.

Parker is one of the dearest kids I have met. He has one of those hearts that radiates goodness and amazing brilliance. My heart melts for him.

Sam is also a heart-melter, and the things that come out of his mouth are hilarious! He is so funny. Just like his mom.

I love this shot. It really says, "Hi friend, I am so glad I married you!" sigh...

Yes yes, I love a good foot shot.

Parker, need I say more. This picture is so you. Sweet and made brilliant by the sun.

And before I end this entry, let's chat Brandon. Rochelle, you got the guy! Tall dark and handsome! I say that purely from an artists point of view ;). Brandon is also funny, but has the driest sense of humor and is a fantastic dad. I loved his impression of a zombie walk on our shoot. I omitted it from this entry, but it was hilarious to witness first hand.

And with this last picture, I say thank you to Rochelle and Brandon for allowing me to capture some fun memories that afternoon so many months ago. I count myself so lucky to know such amazing people.

I was contacted by Stephanie when my sister decided that having a baby the day of Stephanie's wedding wasn't the best option for photography magic. In fact, it would have been anti magic because my sister delivered the night before the wedding. I was so happy and honored to step up to the task and capture some moments for Stephanie and Lucas.

They were some of THE nicest, most laid back, easy going peeps I have ever been around. I mean it, like really chill and nice, nice, nice!

Stephanie is a hair therapist. Yes, she has sheers and clippers, and hair dye and she knows how to use it. Let's take my dear sis for example. She has the most beautiful head of hair, but its a beast, naturally curly. Stephanie is the hair whisperer for my sis. That's how good she is.

The sun was amazing and the peeps looked divine. I love a good looking wedding party. It makes my job so easy. Lucas and the guys look great in this shot by Blaine. I know, Blaine is awesome.

Joycloud, Mountainside Lodge, Estes Park, Colorado

Beloved. That is the first word that comes to mind when I think of Molly and Brandon. The world is just a better place because these guys are in it. After every meeting with them, I walked away feeling light and airy, like I had laughed more than I could remember. Yep, they are those kind of people.

There is a definite vibe to every couple I photograph on their wedding day, and that vibe is carried over into the family. This particular vibe was my kind of vibe. Easy going, celebratory, and a sincere amount of happiness from everyone. Not one frowny face to be seen anywhere at any time. Kids do not count in that scenario (wink). You will pick up on the vibe as you look through the next 50 million images, all right, that was an exaggeration. But there are a lot, so sit back, turn on your favorite tunes and enjoy.

You will find yourselves on Mt. Joycloud with Molly and Brandon wanting to be there again. To be a part of two families so rich in love and friendship.

You will find that you, like Brandon, have fallen in love with Molly. She is that girl!

You will want to have a drink with Brandon (mine being a Dr. Pepper) with Brandon because he is that guy. And when you put these two together...

Coors Field E-session, Erica and Steve!

This shoot was one of those dreams come true. Haven't you always wanted to be at a baseball stadium with no one else there? Just you and that special someone? And haven't you always wanted to be the one to photograph it? ME TOO!

The things I love about an engagement session are pretty much limitless. You get to know the couple. You get to understand how they are in front of the camera and you get one more opportunity to make friends with people whom are counting on you to get it right on their wedding day. These are invaluable reasons to shoot an e-session**

I cannot wait to hang out with Erica and Steve again. We had a blast at Coors Field, it was surreal and held this amazing magic, a little like Disney Land. Like being at Disney Land with some of my buds!

I was also accompanied by my friend and college, Blaine. It was fun doing a little paparazzi with Blaine at the place where The Rockies play, and the place where Erica and Steve were jonesing for the couple pictures.

This next series makes my day, I love shifty eyes followed by a kiss.

When we went out onto the field, we couldn't help ourselves with scratching our shoes at the pitchers mound.

This shot says it all, "We are getting married! Holy crap we are on the pitcher's mound and getting married!"

Question, how can purple be used in the coolest way possible? It marks the "mile high" mark in the stadium. And it makes a purple band all around. I like this next image because it just represents personality. Erica, so cute, and delightful dare I say? And Steve, laid back and kickin' it. So my kind of people.

And finally, the Pièce de résistance, Blaine, awesome shot my friend. In spite of the popularity of this particular corner for transients and people looking for some "spare change." Oh how I love the city and all its varying forms.

**Did you notice how I just threw that term around, E-SESSION? Let me be completely honest, while I was surfing around on other photos web sites, seeing what great work is out there, I kept seeing this term, e-session. It sounded so magical and mystical, like they did something over the internet with videos and pizza and a Dr. Pepper chaser. You can imagine my disappointment when I found out the "e" in "e-session" stood for engagement. I am not giving up the Dr. P!!!

The East Coasters...

Yes, i was admittedly sad to shoot this and family and then find out they were moving within the month to the east coast. I like to see my peeps again. So I was a little sad that I wouldn't be able to see these guys grow and change over the next.

The Swarts are friends with this family, that's how we met, thanks Stephanie! Sarah is an attorney for the armed forces, her hubee, a physical torturer, I mean Physical therapist, uh um. I had knee surgery once, I went to physical therapy and swore at that man daily who helped me to learn to walk again. Bless him!

This was a funny photo shoot, as most are. Funny in that there is always something that sticks out in my mind from each shoot. Something unique or special. At this particular one, I think of that sweet little girl, and her face that she smashed earlier in the week, right above her lip. Pretty much the last thing you want to have happen to your child right before a photo shoot. I mean, they can get hurt, hopefully not, BUT, for the love don't smack your face.

But they came to the right place, scabby upper lip, baddah bing, disappeared!

And little guy, oh he's so cute.

Except when he is being super loved by his snugly sister. You always to capture the siblings sitting together, being cute and singing kum ba yah. But not these guys, she would go in for the big snug, and he would squirm his way away, making this face.

Yet with his thumb and a kiss from mom, it was sunshine and lollipops.

Every shoot has a favorite shot, this one was mine!

Peter and Laila, Elizabeth Bennet never looked so good...

This wedding had Jane Austen written all over it and I was drooling over the very classy feel to the whole affair. Laila and Peter brought so much beauty and love to this shoot, it was. And I felt so lucky to have been able to shoot such a lovely couple.

I have a little crush on this cute father of the bride...

And this one and the next...etc... I could go on and on, Really this next series rocks my socks.

If you are not a Jane Austen fan, it's o.k. She's not for everyone, but this bride was so breathtakingly beautiful and simple, I couldn't help but be swept into some 17th century English Country side with some of these shots. It was truly an amazing breath of fresh air...

UNTIL we saw a bull snake, and hastily left the fields of awesomeness. Glad the Camera was attached to my neck, otherwise I would have dropped gear and done the "Becca Show." It's really entertaining if you are so lucky to ever see it. Peter was much braver than I. He's the man.

And that concludes this rendition of Elizabeth Bennet is jealous of Laila Henderson. If I had the whit and talent, I might just spout off something quite whimsical from Pride and Prejudice, but nah. I will just say, thanks for not getting bitten by a snake. Thanks for letting me shoot you in the most lovely location on the most lovely day. And thank you for being the most loveliest of couples.

The Airport

People often ask me how and why I became interested in photography. What was it that opened Pandora's box for me? It's a mixed bag of experiences and circumstances that have brought me to this awesome place. However, I can honestly say that the airport is one of those places that piqued my interest. I remember when I was in college, waiting to fly home to see my family in the Salt Lake Airport. I would watch people, before 9/11, be reunited in the most genuine forms of honest love and affection. But the best was by far, the return of the missionaries from a two year journey abroad.

The parents were always so out of their skin and completely unhinged when they see their child after so long.

I have always wanted to photograph this moment. And my moment finally came, Brandon came home from New Jersey in an honorable fashion, and fashionably honorable.

So come with me on a journey of anticipation and welcome while we get to see Elder Thaler come home.

First there is the checking of the flights, seriously hoping that for once, it is on time.

Then there is the waiting, hoping you get to catch that first glimpse of someone you hope you recognize. People can change a lot in two years. They may put on a few pounds, might lose a few, might have a sweet tan, or be just different.

Molly and Brandon... they are the poster child for many cliches. And I mean that in a really good way. When I first met them, I thought, "I wish these guys were my neighbors." I cannot say I want all my clients to move in right next door to me. But Molly and Brandon were so different. They are so easy to be around, I laughed so hard, I couldn't help but look forward to another session of smiles and laughs. They are THAT great. They live in a small town in Colorado where they boast a pretty home and some chickens in the back. Idyllic, right?

Sometimes you look at couples and think, "Oh that's nice." "They are so cute." But with these guys I was thinking, "Soul Mates." Hands down.

And here goes my list of completely awesome cliches to describe them... Two peas in a pod,

We had a belly busting good time at The Boulder Tea House. This was such a great place to shoot. Can you believe this wall? It was imported from a place far far away...Tajikistan

Molly is one of those girls whom makes the whole world sunny around her, truly. She is beautiful on the inside and out. Brandon, you super lucky dog!

And Brandon is probably one of the funniest people I have ever corresponded with. His emails back and forth were no less than LOL hilarious.

A little blurry on this one, but guess what? This moment was fabulous and I just wanted to share.

The shoelaces to the shoes, the gum to the wrapper, the You to the Tube...Absolutely a perfect match.

I can truly say, if they moved in next door to me, I would treat them to homemade strawberry jam, occasional cookies made by my kids and some produce from my garden. Yep, I like them that much. Thanks for the good times guys.

Lost and Found

Do you ever get in a busy funk? You just go through the motions of life on automatic and feel a little disconnected? As of late, business has been screaming fast, life has been screaming faster, and I have been wondering if I am just not cut out for this. Am I losing my love for the biz? Am I just going through the motions. Have I lost my mojo?

Now that I have taken the time to smell the roses, stop and review my work I realize that I do love what I am doing. I love it so much. And I realize that I love the people I make connections with, even if that connection is for a fleeting moment through my lens. I love their reactions, their heartfelt smiles, their glances at one another. I haven't lost anything, especially my mojo. There is good stuff happening here. And in the lives of those around.

Life is bursting at the seams around us. And yet I am reminded that life can be full and vibrant in one moment, and then that same life will diminish and extinguish in the next. People are born, people live, and yes, people even die. If their lives weren't so full and rich, then we wouldn't miss them so much. To all those whom I have know whom are experiencing a loss, my heart goes out to you, and to those of you whom are about to bring in new life, my heart celebrates with you. It is something I get the opportunity to witness, this life and the lives of those around.

It is still life, it marches all around us in its various forms. I haven't lost anything, I have merely found something that was there all along, LIFE itself.

I normally reserve prayer pictures for families to see. I do not take away from the sacred nature of prayer when I photograph it. I pray all the time and truly believe in the power of it. I captured this picture because it was so beautiful and told a story in one shot. The story of friends whom have been through much together and are offering thanks for being able to see the happiest of days together.

The Three Trees Chapel is the perfect place for an intimate feel for a wedding. It's beautiful all nestled up against the great Rocky Mountains. This makes for incredible sunsets and a mountainy feel without having to go into the mountains.

The ceremony was perfect and lovely... enjoy the rest! I know I did.

Let's feel sorry for me for a second, seriously. Hayley couldn't be more beautiful if she tried.

And no, you cannot be friends with her facebook. Sorry, she is selective.

We took our shoot to Colorado Boulevard, by the old CU medical campus. There are some really cool urban scenes there as well as the greatest painted picket fence.

I treat my models like queens. I make them walk in the middle of the road on a median about 5 inches wide and pose like it was in the middle of a wheat field. We looked like a bunch of pan handlers. While we were shooting in the Middle of the Road on the Boulevard, Hayley said, "We should hold up a sign that says 'donate to the pretty people's fund.'" I was just hoping I was part of that fund ;)

The thing I like about Hayley, and there are many, is that she knows who she is.

She has this amazing presence that is quiet yet screams confidence, determination, mixed with a lot of wit.

She is the kind of teen I could seriously hang out with for an afternoon and leave feeling happier and my cheeks hurting from laughing.

She is the oldest of three, the younger two being brothers. If she could, she would spend every waking moment with them. Right Hayley?

Happy = Tow Heads, all of them

Where does this crazy term come from? Tow Head? I did a little, very little, digging and found this definition; : a head of hair resembling tow especially in being flaxen or tousled; also : a person having such a head of hair

Beautiful flaxen hair abounds in the Stohl family. And no, it wasn't tousled the day of our shoot. In fact, I don't think they ever are publicly seen tousled. They are a model family if I ever saw one. I cannot help but smile at these pictures. I genuinely love this good family, all of them.

Angie and Kelly are the Peas and Carrots of Forest Gump. They go together that well. She is the epitome of a woman who has it together. She's also just so nice and easy to be around, kindof makes me mad that she is so amazing, and an awesome woman and mother. My youngest will have the pleasure and honor of learning some basics from her this fall. Yep Angie's talent, among many, is a preschool teacher.

Kelly is the guy with the wry sense of humor. He's super funny, but a good listener when needed. He works in social work, helping families adopt babies. It's a beautiful thing and he is the guy for the job. Can you imagine? Making families happy when they haven't had some happiness for a while? Would you believe Kelly used to be a heavy metalesque trench coat wearing, mullet sporting kid in this younger years? I don't believe it either, if only I had a picture to compare and contrast... probably good that I don't.

I know the Stohls are thinking this is a load of hooey as they are reading this. Thinking, "Is she crazy? Why would she say such things? If she were a fly on the wall, oh what that fly would say!" I know, I know it all because that fly visits my walls frequently and has an extensive journal of dirt on Becca Morgenegg.

But, let me say this, you can tell a lot about people by how they are and how their children are. I can tell you this much...

Their children are kind and wonderful and beautiful...

Laynie, the youngest and only girl in the family, is quite a handful. She has a SUPER mind of her own and I am sure she has heard more than once, "It's a good thing you are cute."

She is also dressed like a rock star. Every time I see her I wish I had an adult size of whatever she is wearing. Seriously cute things going on with that token daughter.

Jacob is such a good kid.

He has that easy smile that lights up its surroundings. He's also the patient and experimental oldest child. I say experimental because I have an oldest experimental child as well. It isn't easy being the first guinea pig of the family. But, the oldest kids handle it with style and grace. And you always get new clothes at the beginning of the school year, no sloppy seconds for you.

Next up, the peace maker, the middle child, Ryan. There is something about that sweet face that makes me sigh...he's also so sweet with his big blue eyes and glasses and easy going personality.

And here you have it, the makings of an all around great family photo shoot.

We headed out to DeLaney Farms in Aurora for a rural setting mixed with some lush foliage.

And this is why my job isn't a job, it's just fun hanging out with friends. I get the honor and privilege of making some lasting memories for families and I also get to use that side of my brain that loves to be exercised, the right side. Thank you Stohl's for letting me hang with your fam. Kelly, I am so glad we got you a new Facebook picture, phew! You guys rock and I love hanging with you! Let's do it again.

Citizen Senior

High school senior year...ah the memories of big poofy bangs. I personally had a perm, a bad one. My braces were just removed and I was tan from a summer of marching band practice. That is NOT tan in a good way. But I think this was the point in my life where I looked the best at the that time. That was when my jeans were the smallest. I wasn't trying to hide anything on my bod. It was the IDEAL time for pictures. It was all down hill after that...just kidding, but my "laugh lines" weren't as obvious.

With that said, here are some of the most IDEAL seniors I can think of, Micah and Ben. Why are they IDEAL?

When you look at someone, you look at them from the outside in.

When you photograph them, you get to know them a little from the inside out. As a mother of four sons, I constantly have my radar up, observing those IDEAL individuals whom I would model my children after.

I look for integrity,

honesty,

confidence juxtaposed with humility,

and ease of being around.

I look for heart and soul.

And as the Cherry on top of my role models, I look for smiles and a sense of humor.

Ben has these qualities.

He is all that and a bag of chips.

When he isn't singing in the top choir at his school, you might find him swimming or running track or doing something with the Boy Scouts, or just being Ben.

This kid is Busy and well rounded and overall, one of those enigmas. You just don't meet people like Ben, whom are Seniors in High School and that well grounded!

Micah, have a little soft spot for him.

He is a little shy, but once you break through the shyness, he is down right funny.

He has an easy smile.

Oh, and did I mention he scored in the good looks gene pool.

Yep, I would label him a lady killer for sure.

So with all this IDEALNESS, why wouldn't you want your local Senior to have their IDEAL pictures taken? If you know of any Seniors, still waiting to get those images done, have them give me a holla. I am fun, I enjoy hanging with these model citizens, and I enjoy capturing them at the beginning of the prime of their lives.

Little Boy Awesome, Little Ben, my friends from the Park Incident

Remember my friends whom would fight a ranger to the death? The ones who were so nice while I got taught a lesson about photographer permits? Yeah, those guys. Well guess who is sitting up and has completely stolen real estate in both his parents' hearts? Baby Ben...

There is definitely something to shooting for people you have shot for before. It's a little nerve wracking. You want to do your best job, have the shoot be as magical as the first one.

I hope I was able to accomplish some of that goal, magic in the form of a sweet little boy, with striped leggings no less. The things they have these days are so great compared to 5 or 10 years ago.

I love this next one, I can hear him stretching out and relaxing after trying to sit up all by himself. It's hard work.

My favorite! A big ol line of drool. These are the moments when it is so great to have the camera on call at all times. You get to capture moments like these.

Super Ben!

I look at this next picture and think a couple of things. Ben is lucky, so lucky to have parents that will do anything for him. Also, he is looking at me and saying without saying, life just can't get any better than this.

Window lighting, it is the cheese on my macaroni.

Sara and Lilo, thanks for another excellent shoot with your little boy awesome. It was so great to see you again and to see that little gem of a boy grow a little more. You are the sweetest parents and he is lucky to have you. Please know that, not all kids get parents like you!

Jill, downtown Denver

Sometimes I pinch myself just to make sure I am not living someone else's dream. Do I really get to enjoy my job this much? On top of all the other greatest most fabulous things in my life, namely children I crave to be around and a great husband, I love my job.

A few months back, Jill contacted me and told me she needed some updated photos of herself. I was thinking, no kids, no flowers, just you and me and a city? I am so in. I love all types of photography. I love shooting the big family, I love shooting the bride and her handsome man. But I also love a good solo, and Jill was dreamy for that solo.

I mean, look at her, you can tell she is happy. Not only that, but she is confident. Happiness and confidence are two qualities I find so endearing in women, and you don't find it often, together.

We had so much fun galavanting around the city, playing paparazzi, it was a lot of fun.

Not to mention, yay me for having a subject that was so nice to look at through the lens. This is one of my favorite shots. We are sitting right in the middle of 16th street mall.

She has an easy smile and some super nice legs. She is also just so easy to be around, kind of like your girlfriend you haven't seen in a while, and you just pick up where you left off. Same thing.

Jill was a true breath of fresh air. Perfect outfit, perfect shoes, perfect city, perfect day. I came home so happy I could hardly stand it. All in all, a perfect shoot.

Audrey and Chase, Orange Pop, Lime Serbet, and Sunshine Yellow

Audrey and Chase remind of all the things that are fun and lively. They remind me of a carnival and being on the swings and feeling that funny feeling in your stomach.

I met Audrey a while ago when she was so young and the world was so at her fingertips. She used to want to be a firefighter. But then came Chase. When Chase became available, Audrey became a new woman. Happy, smiley, full of sunshine.

Can I mention a million times how much I love them? Their sense of style, it's so fresh and unique. Their sense of humor is so cute and fun to be around.

Chase proposed to Audrey with the shoes they are wearing in the first image of this post. I am seriously going to get me some customized converse. How awesome is that?

Their wedding day was picture perfect. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. And now I sound like Goldie Locks and the Three Bears.

How could you not have fun around them? Their love for each other was apparent in everything around them. As a photographer, this is important. It is important to enjoy the people you are with. I have never laughed so much. Let's talk about the details... the colors! Can you just die over them? So bright and festive, I really felt like my summer was going to be better after seeing these color combos.

These shoes were perfect!!!

Let's not forget everyone else dressing in retro style as well, complete with silver converse for the flower girl and the best lady!

Audrey and Chase are That. Much. Fun.

Audrey had this brilliant idea to shoot the rings in a tea cup with mossy stuff in it. It was perfect. Her tea cup came from her grandma...how sweet.

The Groomsmen were beyond hilarious. Suspenders and all. Audrey's Brother Sam (yellow suspenders), I think I have a little soft spot for that boy.

Let me tell you a little story about Sam. I have known the Mugleston's for a long time.

Sam is a free spirit. And when I met him, his mom and I were hanging out and he thought I was someone else from the back. He almost gave me a good bum grab, but then realized his error and quickly backed away. I was told about this later that evening. Now every time I see Sam, it's all about, "Are you going to do it Sam?" I will say it is so refreshing to see the love between siblings in this family. I loved the feelings between Sam and Audrey, it was neat to see.

Love these next few, Chase is so funny to shoot.

And cute little Kate, the bestest flower girl ever!

I love this dress with the ginormous flower, I really want one. I would look ridiculous.

See what I mean, these guys are seriously so funny. I think in this image, Audrey was like, "Husband, will you please carry my dress?" This is what came of that request. Priceless.

Audrey and her mother, Barbara, one of my favorite people on this planet. How could you not like Barbara? She is so kind-hearted and she rocks the MAC counter.

There were many firsts for me on this shoot. One of them being the use of a dog as a prop at a wedding. Copernicus was just like one of their children. This is evident in Audrey's sweet expression in this next image. That dog never had it so good. Copernicus LOVES Audrey and Chase and was one sad pup during the honeymoon.

If I had one wish, it would be that these guys would not move away to California. They make such stellar wedding models. I mean, super easy on the eyes. Audrey is so beautiful in this next image.

We also took a little gander to the Gates Rubber Company. This was the perfect place to shoot these guys. I just wish we would have had more time. Gates is so industrial with its graffiti and broken out windows. I was in Photography heaven.

At the reception, we had a B L A S T! This cake was super cool! I love the artistry that goes into a stunning wedding cake.

And of course, the dog, again, with a lay.

Favorite shot of the night? This one! They were so fun to watch while dancing. Usually couples are very vanilla in their public displays on the dance floor. These guys were Lime Sherbet with a cherry on top. You couldn't help but smile and have a superb time with them.

All in all, I give this wedding two enthusiastic thumbs up! A five star rating. The colors were fabulous, the subjects were right up my ally. I felt like I made such great friends over the course of the day and now they are gone. And I will miss them. Thank you, thank you Audrey and Chase for including me in your special day. I feel honored to have been a part of it.

Chicks and kids do mix...and live to tell about it

I can't believe it's been so long since these were taken. Easter seems so long ago, but I would be a little sad if these didn't get some face time. I bet you by now the chicks are walking and talking and laying eggs. They were so cute with their downy soft fuzz and a little sprig here and there of feathers. And the kids, to. die. for.

I can honestly say, not all of the preschoolers were as enchanted with chicks as I was. Observe.

The kids were so cute with them. They were extra careful not to squeeze them too hard so their eyes popped out.

Except for this kid, he has that look in his eye. This picture makes me laugh.

And here he is with his bro being all coy...

I really appreciated no animals were harmed considering that I borrowed these from a kind family. The family reminded me that the chicks were considered family pets. Gulp, no pressure not to kill them. They are not like fish, you can't just run to the store and find one that looks strikingly close.

So here is the story, chicks and kids, and a bunny too! Dreamy was the best bunny ever.

Fluffy and adorable. He almost makes me feel bad about the wild rabbits I would like to hire Elmer Fudd to "Kill da wabbit" in my yard. They are eating all my flowers that are starting to bud.

Enjoy the rest, the good, the snuggly and the frightened...

I had so much fun, again. It was a lot of work juggling kids and animals and making sure everyone left happy. Thanks Angie's Preschool for a belly busting laughing good time.

Nothing warms my heart more than agame of little league where the great traditions of baseball are being passed on from one generation to the next. It's like stories or legends being told around a campfire. The elder tells the story, the children listen. Such is with baseball. You might say its boring, it can be. You might think this "no contact sport" is for the faint at heart. But when your son and husband get out there and pass the torch, carry on the folklore of baseball in this manor, it's nothing short of the all-american dream. This is what life is all about, sunsets, baseball, and family.

I have been anticipating this shoot for while. Waiting and waiting for this baby to arrive. My hilarious friend Amy and I planned for this shoot almost after conception. We had all these great ideas with the toy truck and the wee one in the dumper part, and yet, 9 months later,

We got a wee one in the dumper who just wanted to be held and snuggled. Do you blame him?

I love his face on this one!

And this one is one of my faves!

Only in photography can you capture a newborn giving a thumbs up. It is forever saved!

Sweetest little boy. Couldn't you just die? I think I just might. He is so cute.

Cole is lucky, or not, enough to be the youngest of three doting siblings. These siblings are actually thrilled to have him in the house. They know when a baby comes, grandma comes. And when Grandma comes, it is a party! Any respectable grandma makes her grandkids feel this way. I guess she makes some mean ribs too!

The third in line is Miss Katie. She is a pistol. Independent, girly, and hilarious. She is also kind enough to share her Cinderella dress with my son Jack. Yes, I said my son. He was all to thrilled to wear the whole outfit with shoes.

Before Katie, are two older brothers, Garret and Parker. All boy and really into Boise State. I know all relation will beam with pride when they see these pictures. Their home team has a few similarities to my home team, the Denver Broncos. They can't be all that bad, right?

Next time little Angel Cole, we will keep you all cozy and get you to love that dump truck. Thanks Amy for the fun shoot. That baby is scrumptious.

Denver, Colorado Wedding Photographer: Dawn and Mike, a winter wonderland wedding... alliteration much?

What is so awesome about a winter wedding? Dawn and Mike. They were married a few months ago on a quiet winter day in Denver. It was beautiful, it was cold, and it was snowing. It WAS PERFECT.

First of all, what does one wear to photograph a wedding in the winter, outside? I knew I would be rolling around in the snow. This outfit isn't too far off from what I wore...

Seriously glad I wore it. I was warm and cozy that is fo show!

The lovely bride and groom. Love their style.

I love the speckly snow falling down. So much better than a blizzard. Right?

Dawn is well, awesome. My first impression of her was stunning and intelligent. She sparkles when you meet her with her smile and her calming personality. She is also a force for good working in for a non-profit organization in Washington D.C.

Mike struck the wife gold mine when he married Dawn. Could you be any luckier Mike?

And even though it was a wee bit chilly, Mike and Dawn were he perfect subjects for a winter wedding. I love Dawn's whole outfit. It was classy, a hint of 50's trend and just so different and beautiful. I like the tea length dress. More importantly, I love the shoes and the hose.

I love this shot. It makes me smile and laugh a little every time I look at it. So much personality in one family. I love my friend Lisa in the back row, right side. Cute red head. Yep, this group was a riot.

I know it's really not my place to like or dislike a couples choice in color and ambiance for their nuptials, but I have to say I like something when I like it. The colors and bridesmaids ensemble was so perfect for a winter wedding. It was warm and subdued at the same time. It is what I were to do if Jeb and I got married again in the winter while it was snowing. Two thumbs up indeed.

For LDS weddings, the ceremony is a closed door occasion, no cameras, all of the pictures are done outside and at the reception. So naturally, shooting at a second location is a good option. We found a great option. The Botanical Gardens near Chatfield Reservoir.

This part of the shoot had such a rural, rustic feel to it. I really loved it. It was almost like a stylized shoot with models, it was that perfect for me. I am sure Dawn's feet felt the same way. Just perfect! In the snow, getting the snow in your shoes. Perfect.

This is also one of my faves. It turned out oh so nice. I think I could say this about this whole shoot.

Dawn and Mike...a peak at winter wonderfulness

When I think of a romantic winter, I think of the colors and hughes of the first Narnia Movie. It was cool, a little retro, and very charming. This wedding was a little like that. Cool, a little retro with a side of vintage and a lot of charm. Congrats Mike and Dawn.

Josh and Carle, Happily Ever After, Finally

I am back! And after a weekend of wedding awesomeness, in the form of the Royal Wedding of the Century, I am so excited to chat about weddings this week. I have a few to mention. Starting off with Josh and Carle.

I say happily ever after (in the title), finally, because they have known eachother for a long time, 2-3 years. In this time, they were seperated by different citizenships in two different countries, Canada and the USA. Josh also took a 2 year hiatus from dating and served mission. And against all the odds imaginable, they still finally tied the knot, got hitched, became the Mr. and Mrs. Knowing this history and their story made this shoot even mo bettah.

Carle is Canadian, eh. And yes, people from Canada really say that. When I met her parents, I instantly liked them because I think every Canadian on the planet is likeable. What's not to like? They are friendly, they love hockey and they can take a harsh winter with little complaint. They also rocked our world in the winter olympics. Carle made the most beautiful bride, and I am not just saying that, she was so gorgeous.

Josh, the American, is one of those guys who has presence. You cannot deny it when you meet him or any of his brothers. Josh is the middle of 5 brothers. Can you imagine? And the son of truly wonderful people*, you can tell he was just raised well. Pretty much, knowing this family, I would say any girl would be lucky to marry a Hoffman boy.

The wedding was picture perfect. I was a little concerned about the weather. You never know in Colorado, it could be sunny and awesome and then just change to snow and rain out of nowhere. This was not that day. Carle, you were so abundantly blessed with great weather that early in April.

My sister, Celeste, was my saving grace** second shooting with me this day. I love shooting with her. Shooting with your best friend is such a treat and rareity that it just makes my shoots that much more enjoyable and creative.

This is the scene I walked up to before Carle and Josh came out of their ceremony. Josh's cousin, his brother Greyson, and his brother-from-another-mother Nick, all on cell phones hanging and waiting.

There was also this cute peanut waiting for her uncle to get married. I like her already, little Ruby has that look of "go ahead and mess with me, I dare you."

There were so many smiles, kisses, and genuine happiness floating around our little corner of the world. It was amazing and did my heart some good.

The reception was the bomb digity! Dancing, cupcakes, amazing food and a beautiful place. Many hands went into putting this baby together, and it went together well. My sweet friend Lindsay shot the reception. I had another engagement and couldn't stay. Lindsay, you are amazing and I am so glad to call you friend. Even after putting you and the spot and bribing you with cupcakes for a year, didn't know that did you? You have an amazing EYE. The shots you captured were perfect!!! Thank you so very much. Seriously, what a day!!! Josh and Carle, you guys are serious eye candy through the lens. Thank you for being beautiful and easy on the eyes. Thank you for letting me capture your special day. It was an honor.

*I have known Josh's family for about two years and can honestly say I love them all. I would be a heal and not a good friend if I didn't mention the many events of late for the Hoffmans. I had the good fortune to photograph the Hoffmans last fall for a little family update. Josh's mother passed unexpectedly 6 weeks prior to this amazing occasion. She was a friend to many, including mine and a very beloved mother and wife to this family of strong personalities. Her presence was greatly missed, but she was there in spirit. You could feel it through her children who celebrated a happy occasion to be together. She must of have been smiling at seeing her boys happily together, doing what she had spent her life teaching them, be good, do your best, and never forget where you came from. Bravo dear Loreen and James, your family is one of the best I know.

**Should I admit the other bestest part of this whole experience?

I was in a car accident going to our second location to shoot. Right in front of my friends, Josh and Carle even! I am so professional, seeing that it was my fault. Oh I felt like a big cotton-headed-niny-muggins. Thanks to my sister, I was able to keep it together. I am forever grateful Celeste was there. And after a good cry and a hug from my dear husband, the world was o.k. again.

The Tatoo Tee Shirt, Happy Mother's Day

There are times when I watch my children and laugh and feel pure happiness and want to freeze that moment forever. I realize the moment is gone and all the cameras I have strategically placed around the house are still out of reach of time itself.

Sometimes I get lucky. I have the camera, just in case and the magical moment happens and I see my children just the way they are in that moment. The wonderful creations they are, on loan from a merciful God. It's these moments I am so grateful for the ability and the technology to be able to freeze time, even if it's two dimensional.

I had such a moment with Lincoln not too long ago. Lincoln is Lindsay and Ryan's son. I adore these guys and what they do with their kids. All of us together witnessed the magic of capturing a great moment. As far as Lincoln was concerned it was a playdate and I was his buddy with a big camera.

He was perfectly wonderful and funny and giggly all wrapped up into one moment. Best of all, he sported the best shirt I have seen in a while.

I got to thinking, what if this could be duplicated and given as a gift for Mother's day? Catching crazy kids in their moments and giving this frozen moment as a gift to mom for Mother's day. Lasts a lot longer than flowers! Smells better than dandelions.

For all of you whom may be stumped as to what to give your moms or your wives for Mother's day, why not a little imagery?

I will be doing mini sessions, 45 minute sessions for those needing a little gift for that special maternal influence in your life. Mini sessions are quick and easy and cost less than a regular session.

Bring the family pet, but only if she likes them. If she doesn't, these images could have the opposite effect.

carle and josh...a perfect day peak!

Carle and Josh are married!!! Their day was A W E S O M E. I hope they remember it forever. It was so beautiful. They were so beautiful. I was in heaven. It is why I LOVE wedding photography so much. There is so much beauty all around. Many people took time and talent to make this a momentous event.

Mighty Judd

When I first started having babies, I remembered thinking, this kid is so lucky to have me (as lucky as I was to have him). I am going to love him with all my heart, give him shelter, mend his broken heart when some rotten girl breaks it and be grateful to my dying day for this blessed opportunity to be a parent. Then I started noticing not everyone felt the same as I did.

I saw kids who lived in terrible circumstances, not of their own fault. Kids whom had not a chance on this earth of feeling loved by a parent. My heart would break for these kids. I would always think, why can't every baby that comes into this world come into a loving and safe home? Because that's not the way it is. We don't get to choose, we just roll with it.

But sometimes, the hand that is dealt us is better than our wildest dreams. Such is the case with baby Judd.

When I think of good parents, I think of Annie and Tom. Two peas in a pod. Tom totally scored in the wife category! Annie is one of those people you love from afar because she has an infectious laugh and the brightest smile. They have Graham, a very funny kid with so much whit and charm, you aren't quite sure what to do with him.

They have such a great story as to how they recieved this gorgeous kid they call Judd, and for me to tell it would do no justice. I will say that they have waited a long time for him. It was nerve wracking and emotional. But I think in the end, it was all worth it. A mom who knew she couldn't take care of this sweet baby chose Annie and Tom to take care of him instead. This has to be a heart-breaking decision, but an admirable one. One that takes courage and guts. And in the end, everyone wins. Everyone!

I couldn't be more happy for this sweet family. And honestly, I cannot wait to shoot them in a few months when the grass and trees are blooming. Looking forward to it guys.

Congrats Annie and Tom for your happiness and unspeakable joy! Adding Judd to your already amazing family has amplified it that much more.

Cograts Graham on being a big brother, oh the things you will teach this child.

And congrats Judd, you are one lucky little lad (alliteration :)) I am so excited for your chance to be with these people who will provide you with things only a family can, love, learning, and the hope of real happiness.

A little grainy and slightly out of focus, but I am in love with this shot. I love how the light catches his hair and the way his cheeks are hanging off his face a little.

Oh Baby!

I have had the rare opportunity to photograph a lot of babies lately! I love it so much. Little ones new and clean, so lucky to have parents that love them with all their hearts. It is a wonderful thing to behold and I never get used to it. Never. There is so much joy that surrounds this little bundle brought by "the storks."

Welcome little boy Trevor. What do you think about this outside world? A little different and oh so nice.

Sweet baby...

Sweet brother Owen...so young, he doesn't even know any different. There is just a new friend in town. I am a firm believer in having the kiddos close together, they love each other the mostest and fight with each other the bestest, made those up on my own.

Such a cute big yawn...

Grandma, Wes' grandma came into town for the new baby. What a blessed and rich life. To be able to see and experience not only grandchildren, but the great ones too!
